THE PROJECT
The Soave vineyards have been recognized by ministerial decree (ministerial decree number 17070 of 2012) as the first rural landscape of historical interest recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in relation to the territory of the Baldo Lessinia LAG.
For this reason, the project aims to test new tools to safeguard and enhance this historical, landscape, cultural and environmental heritage aimed at an active conservation of the site in question. In addition, the project concretely incorporates all the objectives indicated in the announcement both in terms of climate change mitigation and adaptation to it and for the safeguarding, restoration and improvement of biodiversity for environmental protection.
PURPOSE
Objectives such as the mitigation of climate change and adaptation to it both for the safeguarding, restoration and improvement of biodiversity for environmental protection, the need to protect local development in de facto rural areas, which is also achieved by enhancing the cultural and natural heritage by activating concrete network projects to protect the historic rural landscape.
Precisely for being the first officially recognized rural landscape, the project is a reference point for other initiatives activated on these issues not only within the LAG Baldo Lessinia but also in other territories.
RESULTS
A map of the landscape quality of the vineyard was created to be used in the classification and in the qualitative and economic evaluations of wines produced in the DOC area. Biodiversity was enhanced both with reference to specific and functional Biodiversity with the use of pollinating insects and Biocultural diversity according to the UNESCO – CBD motivations of 2014. An evaluation of the tourist potential was carried out in relation to the knowledge of historical characters ( iconemi) of the local landscape. Mappings of trees and hedges were carried out in view of future management indications; in-depth analysis of statistical analyzes relating to the use of various types of stakes for vines and related farming systems and the related influences in terms of landscape; statistical analysis of the materials used in agricultural products.
