27 Jul Zaratan at the 20th ISBE 2026 Congress
The 20th International Congress of the International Society for Behavioural Ecology (ISBE 2026) has just concluded in Turin, marking one of the most significant global events dedicated to behavioural ecology.
WBA was present, thanks to the contribution of the marine research and higher education center ZARATAN.
With the joint support of WBA, Napoleon Tour Operator, and ISI Florence, five university students—three Italian and two American—had the opportunity to present the poster “Mediterranean blennies: the behavioral, social and ecological frameworks that shape interspecific and intraspecific assemblages.”
This was an important opportunity for scientific and professional growth, allowing our students to engage with researchers from around the world and to become part of the international scientific community.
The congress also featured an oral contribution from Prof. Rebecca Branconi, founder and coordinator of ZARATAN, who presented her work “Shedding Light on Marine Fish Societies in Dark Mediterranean Habitats: Sociality & Group Living in the Cardinalfish Apogon imberbis.”
Participating in scientific events of this level not only offers young people high‑value training experiences, but also provides international visibility to WBA and to the research and educational activities it promotes through ZARATAN within the Tuscan Archipelago National Park.
