13 May Inauguration of the “Nat-Lab, the naturalistic museum of the Tuscan Archipelago”
On May 20, from 4:30 pm, at the English Fort of Portoferraio (Isola D’Elba, LI), the World Biodiversity Association onlus and WBA Project srl will inaugurate the “Nat-Lab, the Naturalistic Museum of the Tuscan Archipelago”, built in collaboration with the Municipality of Portoferraio and with the Tuscan Archipelago National Park.
The Nat-Lab wants to be a naturalistic laboratory, a museum that houses and preserves the entomological, zoological and botanical collections of the Tuscan islands, a home for all Naturalists who study, preserve and love the extraordinary environmental heritage present in the Archipelago National Park Tuscany, an area that has also obtained the prestigious identification as a Biosphere Reserve, as part of the UNESCO MaB Program.
In the rooms of the Nat-Lab it will be possible for you to experience for the short time of a visit what it means to be a true Naturalist; it will be possible to explore biodiversity, the extraordinary diversity of life, the main object of the Naturalist’s study, observing it in its three kingdoms: earth, water and air.
The Nat-Lab will not be a museum like any other, a simple place for conservation and dissemination, but it will also be a meadow, a river, a small world to discover.
The Nat-Lab will be inaugurated during the week of the parks, on the day dedicated to bees, and during the guided tour of the museum there will also be interventions by expert Elban beekeepers, researchers and biodiversity guardians. At the end of the visit we will celebrate with a small taste of some typical products of excellence.
We are waiting for you to celebrate Biodiversity and try to build a concrete commitment together towards sustainability.
