The BioDistrict of the Chianti Classico is Biodiversity Friend!

Last month Valoritalia, a company leader in Italy in quality wine certification, gave the certificate “Biodiversity Friend” (n. 8074) to the Chianti Classico Consortium. Our protocol on sustainability and biodiversity conservation in agriculture is attracting the attention both of single farms and producer consortiums. In the case of Chianti Classico 14 producers of the “BioDistrict” of Greve in Chianti (where the Experimental Station for Sustainable Viticulture operates) were certified. It is a group of organic farms particularly active in application of good agricultural practices, bound to a high-quality viticulture, care to environment and consumer health.
The farms certified “Biodiversity Friend” are: Casina di Cornia, Castello La Leccia, San Giusto a Rentennano, Rodano 2, Buondonno, Casaloste, Tenuta di Bibbiano, Agricola I Fabbri, Fontodi, Le Cinciole, Badia Coltibuono, Val delle Corti, Monte Bernardi, Fattoria di Rignana, Fattoria di Lamole.
Coming a few days before the beginning of the Project “Qualitative characterization of the principal fruit and vegetable products of the Veneto region and their environment of production” which will involve about 200 DOP and IGP vegetable and fruit farms of the Veneto Region, the WBA Directing Council warmly welcomed the certification of the Chianti Classico Consortium, which represents the excellence of the Italian wine production all over the world.
