Tuesday, January 21, 2014 Beatrice Sambugar, after a short illness, left us prematurely. A member of our Association for many years, Beatrice has been a naturalist actively involved in zoological research, both basic and applied to the environmental protection; she divided her life between teaching and passion for the culture in its broadest sense. She was a specialist in Aquatic Oligochaeta and author of many scientific contributions; after retiring from teaching, she devoted herself to the environmental consulting.
Passionate about travels, she took part in several research expeditions organized by the WBA in the Southern Hemisphere, contributing to discover many new species for science. Her vital spirit and enthusiasm for research have been an example for everybody who had the pleasure of knowing and associating with her.
